There are loads of sites where you can find deals to Ireland. The site I used when I went was http://www.irishabroad.com/travel/ . They were great and their customer service was excellent.

Not sure how affordable you want to go and where. There are a few ways to go to Ireland affordable. Unless you live near an Aer Lingus hub, Chicago or Los Angeles you can find some affordable fares with American Airlines, US Airways or even British Airways. The best time to go is off season. October is still a good time up until Halloween. April is too. The middle of tourist season is May through August. Fares jump to all most three times in March during St Paddy's holiday.
You can stay in Hostels or B %26amp; Bs and get rates from 10.00 EURO to 45.00EURO.
I suggest you stay in places like Ennis, Shannon where they are cheaper and catch Bus Eireann or Rail to places where you want to go. Rail has a tour pass and Bus Eireann has some day tours.
Try www.kayak.com for airfare.
Sometimes you can go to Heathrow or Gatewick and catch a cheap Ryanair flight over to Ireland
Pack light they small airlines charge for bag weight
Hope this helps tell me where you are going and I can give you more info.
You get what you pay for .... next time do some research, book a flight through the airline and book your accommodation through a holiday accommodation website like www.hostelworld.com.
